about
"2017 was a year of rebirth for me. I had started a new chapter in my life by moving closer to nature and rebuilding a part of myself that had died, finding beauty and freedom in places I never expected. I met someone special and summer became a time of adventures, riding the wind and falling in love. When summer came to a close, they had to go to Europe and we were heartbroken but, despite the distance, we decided to stay together and it became a gauntlet of true patience. I felt sad of course but it was overshadowed by a new, greater sense of time and perspective and my soul grew in new ways. All these things influenced my music and the narrative which resides within the album, there are peaks of light and valleys of dark. “Yugen” is a traditional Japanese word which has an extensive definition but roughly translates to: a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe. After a year of new growth and focusing perspective, I could think of no better title to an album which sonically represents that."
